Default radio codes

I am searching for a way to get the code for the radio. I just purchased a 96 A4 and the card in the manual is missing. The previous owner doesn't know where it is. Someone named Bert posted a response and said you may be able to find it in the spare tire well with the other codes. The dealership says you must pull the radio to get a number and then they can call the and get the security code. I live about 60 miles from the nearest dealer and it would be great to not have to pull the radio. Anyone know of any ideas?

Default what do you need it for? is the radio asking for a code now?

i have pulled my delta unit 1/2 dozen time and it has never asked me for a code. maybe it only goes into security mode if u pull it while the alarm is armed?<p><br>1996 a4 2. qm<br>

Default wrong: mine concert was on a shelf for 2 months, disconnected at least 6 times, no code

i have tried this with concert and delta. I still think that the car has to be armed, and the radio then removed before the security kicks in.<p>i cannot explain it any other way<p><br>1996 a4 2.8 qm (delta/concert)<br>

That right, you have to arm your radio. The factory does not arm the radio for you
