Radio Rest Code
I'm trying to find out how to reset the Safe lock code on my factory radio, I am the third owner and the card with serial number/code was lost long ago. Is the standard Tape deck AM/FM in a 1996

Take the radio out of the dash, and write down the serial number. It's a good idea to...
take the stereo and the car to the dealer, for proof of ownership. Have them look up the radio code. I have done this before without any problems.

I'm looking to do so but it is a 4 hour drive to the nearest dealer 
Damn I know, I frankly don't know if it's worth it seeing as how I'm looking to put in an aftermarket deck in a few months

Call the dealer and find out if they will give you the number over the phone, or...
have someone else go to the dealership for you, with the readio serial number, and maybe they can get the code.
If you can't get anyone to do that for you, send me an email, and I'll see if I can go to my dealership and have them do it for me. I've had them do this before!
