Rear quattro brake upgrade questions (slightly confused)

<center><img src="https://www.audiworld.com/tech/pix/brakefaq4.jpg"></center><p>
so I am debating on doing the rear brake upgrade conversion in the next couple of days. Been reading the FAQ, Tech and search and have some questions.

Seems like we can go two different ways:

S4 rears or A6/A4 rears... here is where it gets confusing. Don't have etka available until next week so there is no way to run numbers right now.

<b>S4 upgrade:</b>
a8 rear vented rotors
a8 rear caliper brackets
b5 s4 calipers

I do have the part numbers for the above but which A8 chassis are we talking about (year range)

<b>A4/A6 rear upgrade (the other one):</b>
modifieda4 posted that he used
B6 A4 rear caliper carriers
A6 3.0L rotors(<b> shoudlnt that be a4 3.0L</b>)

During the search I came up with posts that mentioned B6 a4 3.0L rotors

So which ones are correct?

Chris: If you are reading this and the above mentioning of the a4 b6 versus the a6 rear rotors your post in the faq could use some updating to reflect both options<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/2097577.phtml">Phils rear break discussion thread</a></li></ul>

Yikes that was over 4 years ago wasn't it.

it shows that my search covered lots of stuff

I got part numbers for all the above so if it comes down to running numbers it can be done. But I'd rather check

qfrog Ti20 07-31-2008 07:27 PM

iirc.

4B0-615-601-B rotors
8E0-615-425-A carriers

Correct , I have a word document that I copy the best info to. Here was my entry

Quattrofrog(Phil) came up with rear upgrade B6/A4 3.0 caliper carriers, rear
8E0-615-425-A
C5/A6 255MM x 10 mm solid rotors
4B0-615-601-B

I have almost every decent upgrade copy and pasted there . Its a just-in-case some of the info ever gets lost. I frequented some photography sites and one large site stopped hosting a lot of info 5-10 years ago . I wish I'd copied more . Most of what was there isn't anywhere else on the web. Hope it never happens here.

i may be willing to parce and database it. and if someone would host said db I'd be willing to

be the dba and perhaps build interfaces... just a thought as the current repository is kinda painful to use. Great tool and great idea but the size of the data has outgrown the usability of that format. Bottom line is we need a normalized relational database if we really want to be effective.

Also, please forgive the noob if this kinda talk is blasphemy...

I didnt know you are working with DB's

im struggling with my last college class right now: advanced database management.

anyways: i like the website idea

Kinda weaksauce to go from 245mm solid to 255mm vented... go big boy and get the 300mm...

Buy 034's brackets, rebuild a set of B5 S4 rear calipers, and get B7 S4 rear rotors...

Then you'll be ready for 332 or 355mm fronts :-)

Former Oracle now mostly MSSQL. I make no claims but think I could help out with a project like this

Also, may I ask what are you struggling with? Feel free to email me...
