recode ecu?

I have a vag scan tool and wondering how to recode a new ecu that is from a 98 1.8tqs and mine is 971.8tqa. Could anyone give instuctions? Thanks in advance

is it a vag-com? if not, it'll be tool dependant and you'll want to read the manual for the tool

i replied to your last post on 11/30...this didn't work??

You just go to the engine module and there will be a "recode" button. When you get to that page you will see 2 spots, one is for the dealer code and the other is to recode the soft code. Just enter the code from the stock ecu into the new ecu and press enter
