For the record....
I've never run a really good/dedicated snow tire on any of my cars over the years, so I don't know what I may be missing. I'm used to sliding around and driving in poor conditions, I've done it for the last 21 years here in Wisconsin. I am looking forward to seeing how well the Quattro does in the slippery stuff, as I picked up this car last May.
I know that the T1R is not necessarily a cheap tire, but I got a good deal on them -- although not quite as cheap as the Avons.
A friend of mine wants to put all-seasons on his MB E320. And he is interested in Toyo, especially since I rave about my new tires. So he is thinking of taking advantage of the Toyo 45-day "test drive."
I'll be sure to tell him not to get the TPT.
But what about their other models?
Thanks!

I like snow tires for the winter, for the usual reasons... better traction but more importantly better braking and control in poor conditions.
Now to say that the tires I have on the car now perform poorly is simply not accurate. I dont plan on using them in the snow and I dont plan on tracking them ever. So between those two extremes I think an A/S tire can serve me just fine.
Yes an all season tire gives up some summer performance and some winter performance too, however if you arent going to demand that the tire give you what the T1R or S03 do in the summer or what the Blizzak's do in the winter... I think an A/S is fine for spring/summer/fall use in my region without worrying about traction, excessive wear or hydroplaning. But again this is subjective to the individual's needs and the speciffic tire they are using.
