Replaced this hose, solved boost issues. hooray

I found this cracked hose a few weeks back. Replaced it and my boost problems went away. I used to have a noticeable surge under boost (as in sudden loss of power), and I'd spike at about 17psi. Now I have no surge, and I can actually spike above 20psi. Anyways, just thought I'd share pics. I guess this is something to check if you're having issues.

yup...been there...did you get oil spray on your manifold?

No, luckily

But I was noticing a strange burning smell, which led me to this hose, so I'm sure something was dripping/spraying onto the hot manifold. The smell is now gone.

the tear in my hose was so small you couldnt see it...i had a hard time figuring out the oil slick.

It took me a while too.

The tear was on the underside of the hose so not visible normally, but once I felt underneath the hose the leak was pretty obvious, as you can see. No obvious leaking though. My coolant bottle is moved in the picture, so this hose isn't normally so exposed.

I have to do mine as well.

You have the P/N on hand? Also, I can use regular hose clamps instead of the OEM style clamps correct?

quattrofrog 01-22-2004 04:20 PM

I hand those out at least once a week.

I have a hell of a lot of oil around that area. How to determine which one needs to be repaired,

I dont see any physical damage.

Try this...

DO LS 60165699 (not sure you need the letters)
I think I paid $8 or $9 for it. Yes, you can use regular hose clamps. That's what I used and it works fine.
