Default RPM fluctuation while running with the ignition off TT running...

every single time I try to close the already closed window RPMs jump down and then suddenly up.
It's probably the window motors drawing power, but still weird to me. Are they drawing that much power? And is the alternator not running?

Default if your engine's running, the alternator's spinning.

it's belt-driven!

but, at idle, it's not providing as many amps of current... hence the issue.

Default The TT idle is quieter than the ignition idle as well... I keep wondering...

if the TT idle is ran from the battery power... clean power less noise? Or is it my imagination?

Idle ran from battery power? What?

Default so here's how it works:

the TT just tells your car to keep running, like you haven't taken the key out of the ignition.

it will run exactly how it does when you are idling with the key in the ignition.

i don't know why it would appear to be quieter -- unless it turns the AC off.

Default yeah, i don't quite think he's understanding how the electrical system works

if the engine's running, your alternator is supplying the power for the car.

if the engine's off, the battery supplies the power to your lights, stereo, etc.

Default I know as much and I have seen an alternator work, but didn't think about the AC until you have...

mentioned it. I still need to find the alternator location on my new car though. (seeing != understanding) It turns off the AC. The alternator and the battery are connected in parallel in most cars. (not sure about the A4) If either one dies you can still run it for a while, but anyways the reason for the quieter idle must be the AC power being cut off. I have seen it on a '91 Golf, '99 Firebird and my old '98 neon Didn't get to play much anything newer until I got my A4.
