S4 conversion
I currently own an 96'A4. I am considering a transplant to a S4 motor. Now I know i'll need hella more parts than just the motor. However,I am concerned about the security system that comes with the new audi's namely the 'Imobilizer' I think I may have a similar system on my audi. Unfortunanly there are no keys available for the S4 motor. Can anyone give some insight into this.

why don't you just buy an S4...
you'll never actually have an S4, so when you try to sell it you will get very little for it.
It might be better to buy a used S4, or trade in for a 1.8t with an upgraded turbo.
The 12V are getting more available parts, so you could invest in what you already have. www.tdlracing.com has an engine rebuild that is supposed to put you at about 230HP.

won't fit..
first of is the radiator area, s4 has an extra fan and i think that engine mounts might be diff
if you are buying a wrack s4 "engine" it should comes with tranny and gear box and computer and harness
the plumbing might have problems too.
i've looked into it myself already also, might be better off use that $$ for a down payment for a new car

if you have time and place..
you can part it out and make money off of it
that would be the best bet
i think you use your old key btw because as far as all the transplant i've seen in other cars, they use the old car keys
