Default Shimmer after fan belt and axle change

Gents, i just replaced my fan/serpentine belt and front right drive axle. The car now begins to shimmer (its a slight vibration, but more than enough for me to feel it) whenever i put on the air conditioning and the car is stationary. The shimmer disappears immediately i take my foot off the brakes and start moving. The shimmer also disappears if i shift to park or neutral (with AC on). Guys, is this normal? I bought the belt and axle from ECS. 2000 A4 2.8L Auto quattro

The axle for sure, and the belt probably, have nothing to do with this vibration. When you turn on the AC, that loads the idling engine. When you shift the trans to drive, that loads the engine more, and you'll feel some vibration because the slow-turning engine is working harder. When you release the brakes and gain some velocity, the transmission load decreases. Same thing when you put it in park or neutral. Watch your tach, it should show the engine maintaining a stable idle speed whether you shift into drive or reverse, turn AC on, lights on, etc.
