Show off your Euro license plate!!
Show off your Euro license plate.
I am currently thinking of getting a euro license plate, but I live in Illinois where both of the license plates are required. If you have euro license plate and living in a state like mine, how do you manage to have it on? |
Cool....here's mine.

do you drive around in the castro with that plate
|
In VT state, by law I need a front plate.. I just zip tie one on for inspection..
and usually the cops that pass me look and smile like a car guy would. My plate is getting a bit beat up and will retire soon. This is an original plate from Stuttgart Germany IIRCC.
<img src="http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s225/RallyVermont/DSC_0012.jpg"> |
used to have one but then realized that its the stupidest thing ever to drive
around with a different countries licence plate in the usa.
however: when mine was on it was on the front bumper and the va tag inside the window or the front tag was german and the va tag was ziptied underneath it |
What if the plate is real, not ordered from a website and has sentimental value.....
belonged to say your grandfather and was passed ?on?
|
Sounds legit to me. My reasons - mine is real, and I have a spot for one on the bumper and not..
for US issued plates. Trying to mount one with Euro inset location just looks fugly to me.
|
Here you go....

You can find anything on eBay.
Got this from a gentleman in Nordhausen.
EF is Erfurt, IIRC. <img src="http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a143/indischrot/audi/plate1.jpg"> |

do you have a black roof?
|
old news...black magic pearl IIRC
|
huh.. never noticed that before.. I must have been thinking of some other AW'ers
|
Yup about 2 months ago. It was a payment or making something up to me kind of thing=P
|
heh nice, have a cousin that lives in Erfurt
|
awesome :)
|
It gets me a lot of catcalls and flashes of skin....
...best $ 40.00 I ever spent.
|
that plate would be from Frankfurt i believe
|
No pics, but I've been running a europlate with my MVA issue number on it for 2 years
and haven't got any **** from cops.
Mine goes "MD XXXXXXX" The first two letters on German plates usually designate a city/town to which I think the vehicle is registered closest. |
ahh I beleive you are correct.. I know Kris Hansen's family is from the area where the plate is from
I'll double check.
|
This gentleman's name was Christian...
...sent me a pic or two of himself and his wife and kid. Very nice guy.
|
Stuttgart has a letter S.
Porsche usually has its "test cars" with
S:GO =) |
it's my VIN for where it was made, year, model, etc.
after hitting a raccoon back in 2003, and getting new bumper cover that didn't have the plate backet holes in it, it's never been back on the car is on the wall in my garage
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/10901/p6030017.jpg"> blame Liam in Montreal of these pics at the Glen ;) <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/10901/esses_at_glen_3.jpg"> <img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/10901/esses_at_glen_4.jpg"> |
yeah but those should be hanging in the garage. I still have my motorcycle plate from Berlin Germany
its hanging on the wall in the garage.
|
Love it.
|
What side-skirts are these?
|
Thats a Euro plate? Maybe an old UK plate from approx. 1965! or Singapore or Malaysia
|
FYI - F = Frankfurt on Main, S = Stuttgart
|
See my Sig!!! O.K. I live in Germany ;-)
|
From before you were born yes it's a real EP. 99% sure this is the set from Sweden late 60's.....
It could also be the UK in the late 60's as well...my grandfather had my mother living all over the world depending on what IBM had him doing.
|
yep my mistake :)
|
Actually I was born in the early 1960's!
As a Brit now living in Germany and who regulary travels throughout Europe I can tell you that it is certainly not a Swedish plate.
If it came from Europe in the 1960's then its definitely a UK plate. British plates with a suffix letter sarted in 1963 with A, so the E on your plate would date it to 1967. Swedish plates in the 1960's were white with black letters and digits (see bottom of Wikipedia page linked). As Europlate I always think of the modern EU plates with the blue stripe and country indentification letter.<ul><li><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_licence_plates">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_licence_plates</a</li></ul> |

I was born and partially raised in Erfurt and my dad was her student exchange family "father"..however, I'm sporting my old plate from a different little east german county near Hamburg..it's been with me from my first car and luckily Delaware doesn't require a front plate, so I have no issues there..it's a little mashed up now after running in US traffic for a year ;)
