So I don't have my radio code, my battery finally died, and I just bought a new battery...
....so I picked up the Die Hard International from Sears (with vent tube and everything) and I start the "simple" process of removing the old battery. What a pain in the ***! I even stripped a couple of those plastic screw things holding on the top cover (around the wiper blades).
Anyway, so I'm upset that I have to disconnect the old battery without a radio code. I was going to go today to do it all, but the car wouldn't start. I take my buddies beater car and go to Sears...blah blah, and after putting the new battery in and starting the car to see that all was kosher, I decide to turn the radio on....and to my amazement, IT WORKED! All my presets and everything were still there. Well, I have to say that I'm pleased, nonetheless. Anyone else experience this?

Those plastic screws...
they are quarter turn fasteners, not screws. Turn them 90 degrees CCW to release the fastener (it will remain attached to the cowl I believe), and 90 degrees CW when you're reinstalling the cowl.
