So i installed my subs today...
Im not a professional installer so I went the simple way and used a box I built myself a year ago for my Toyota Tacoma and things worked out nicely. They are a pair of Boston Acoustics Pro Series 12s and they are powered by a 500 watt RMS Soundstream Reference 500 amp running at 1ohm. The sound is sooooo clean and deep. It makes my Bose system sound so incredibly better. Im considering making a cover which will basically make it so you cant see past the box. It will be carpeted with two holes in the front for the subs to show through.
To keep the box from sliding around the trunk, i screwed a couple screws with an "O" on the end, and then latched them to the tie-downs. It stays put pretty good. Not a bad job for doing most of the work myself i guess. =) |
THUMP THUMP THUMP!!! =) To PVD, of course!

Where did you pick up the signal for the sub? Rear speakers or head unit?
|
I tapped into the rear speaker wires since the deck doesnt have RCA outs.
|
I got a ? for you audio guys. Do you have your subs facing front or rear of the car? Ive been told..
...that if you face them toward the front of the vehicle, there is noise cancelation and you wont have nearly as good bass. What are your thoughts?
|
how did you tap into the rear speakers??? I need to install my sub but don't know how!!

I've oriented it in different ways, and honestly, I can't tell the difference.
I think our trunk is very well sealed, so if anything is going on back there, my trained ears can not tell a difference.
