Hi all, i've been around multiple a4's in the past including the B5 and i have actually worked on a few of them, but only now I decided to buy one on a good deal that have been offered to me. By far I love the car in every aspects, and im trying to modernize it the max I can, it's from 96 but it brings a mixture of some modern stuff that came on the facelift versions, and believe me i bought this car complety stock, the past owner didnt touch in anything.

But yeah i did already put the remote central locking working, and added some features in to the coding of the confort module, such as automatic windows logic, that fancy automatic interior light logic too and some other things, also i turned the alarm system on even from what i've seen my car doesnt have that system.

However there's some things in the car that i dind't figure it out completely, so that's why im doing this post in hope that some of you can help me. In every door pilar the car has a door switch, at the beginning i tought that was the door's switches for interior light's, door and headlight chimes, alarm etc. but i realize that's not how it works, because on the driver's side door that particulary switch is broken, so it's like the door is always open right? but anyways when i open or close the door the interior light's reacts just as it's supposed... So i assume that there's a microswitch on the door lock and also this door switch on the pilar, my question is, what's the purpose of this switch? Also i don't have door warning chime and my headlights chime is not working i dont know why, it happened to me to listen the chime sometimes with all doors closed when i turned the headlights on, but its something that did happened one or two times only.




My other question is something more simple i hope, i have some wiring going in to the hood from the left hinge, idk what those wires do, I also don't have those heated washer's, so any ideias of where that wiring go?

I am very curious about the wires going into the hood as well. The ones you are referring to are an extremely thin gauge pair, right?

 

It's 3 thin wires with different colors, definitely nothing aftermarket, because is to well made. I haven't tried to take the inner hood insulation off, maybe I find something.
