Speedometer problems...

Speedometer problems...
Yesterday, during a long drive and today on my way to work, I noticed my speedometer started "jumping". I'd be going 80mph and it would jump up 5mph to 85mph then drop back down. Yesterday it only happened at those speeds, but today it happened at lower speeds (65 jumping to 70 then back down).
I have no clue how the speedo works... The only thing I can think of was last week I did an idiotic thing w/ my car. On News Years Eve I was staying in Philly and was pulling into a parking lot, after I took my ticket I cut the wheel to soon and the back tire jumped the curb. It was a big curb and there was a huge bang from the car bottom hitting. I thought for sure there'd be damage, but I saw none. Could this have done it?
