SPP Stage 3 HID Install (Massive BWW)
#12
works good huh? a few suggestions and corrections.
the ballast will shut off if it gets hot enough. especiallyin 50w mode. maybe not now since its winter time. but at idle and housing collecting heat. it will shut off. mount it such that the heatsink of the ballast is exposed to outside air.
light intensity measured by lumens is not 2x. its 40% 3200-> 4500.
if you want 50w its red AND orange. otherwise it'll flicker. the ballast technical PDF explains the parameters.

herm..
Red AND orange? Instruction S4MadMan told me and Eric gave say to use one or the other. I havn't noticed any flicker from when I had them on for ~15 minutes to aim. When I get my LED city lights I will wire both and take your word for it.
I'll also adjust the URL for the notes you indicated. I'll find out about the ballasts shutting off in about 3 kmonths when it starts to get real work again. I was going to put the ballast underneath the cover plate but it didn't look like there'd be enough room for it to fit that way, plus I'd have to pass 2 sets of wires into the housing, making it even more difficult to water seal.
Do you have any pictures of the way you mounted yours?
