Squeaky armrest

My armrest started squeaking today when I press&release, i.e., rest my arm (elbow) on it. I do not have to tell how annoying is that... Has anybody else had that problem, and if so, how did you solve it?BTW, the car is 98 A4 1.8T, bought 12/97, 8,500 miles.

Just oil the rubber feet on the lid of the arm rest. There should be at least two feet. ( some cars have up to 6 feet)

I put velcro pads below where the rubber feet of the lid rest on the armrest

Been there, done that!

I have had 2 a4's and both had armrests that squeaked like crazy until a few weeks ago when I put some teflon tape under the latch and it went away. I tried putting some padding underneath the little rubber **** on both sides of the latch and that didn't work. Finally, my dealer suggested the tape below the latch on the armrest itself, not the cover... I couldn't find a good solution in the archives either... Jim S 98 2.8qms plus teflon tape.

It's the latch, not the feet... Here's how to fix...

I put a dab of petroleum jelly (Vaseline, Carmex lip balm, whatever) in the bottom portion of the armrest, in the little groove where the top cover latches.Actually, a few drops of any lubricant would probably work, maybe even a bit of WD40 or motor oil or even salad oil.-Phil
