STEERING RACK

That article is exceptionally detailed and helpful! In addition to the procedures put forth in the write up, I have found it saves time and frustration if two additional items are added.

Reinstalling the 'banjo' fittings for the high pressure and return lines can be both frustrating and time consuming, not to mention the possibility of getting dirt or other foreign matter into the lines.

To make things go smoothly, I have found it helpful to disconnect both the high pressure line where it connects to the pump outlet pipe on top of the RH cylinder head and the return line where it connects to the cooling pipe. This allows both lines to be quickly connected to the rack assembly in the wheel arch thus eliminating cramped hands and dropped crush washers. The 19mm pipe union for the high pressure line can be easily disconnected where it joins to the pump outlet pipe and the hose moved out of the 'U'-shaped bracket at the back of the engine. The return line can be disconnected from the cooling pipe and moved back along the LH frame rail without having to remove the hose from the plastic ties securing it to the body. Spraying both hoses with silicone will facilitate their movement.

When both 'banjo' connections are installed on the steering rack, do not fully tighten the fittings until the rack is in place as both pipes will need to rotate into their final position when the steering rack is secured with its three bolts.

Hope this additional information helps!
