I own a 1997 A4 2.8 and the stereo in it is not that good at all this partiualy car does not have the Bose speaker has something called Delta in it and also does not have a cd player in the main radio face. i love the speakers system that is in the newer A4 and was wondering if there is any way i can get that same radio face OR speakers in to the 97. im not sure if the face will fit or not maybe one from a 98 will but i would like a cd player in the main radio and would like it to be an audi one. also people have been telling me to change anything with the radio in the audi is very hard. how true is this ??? and do you know anywhere that does a good job on these cars that could help me find a great system to put in to it.

the headunit in the newer A4 will prob not fit since
 

it is a double din and in the older a4 it is a single din headunit. It is actually easier to change the headunit in the older a4 due to the fact that there is a kir for it, if you notice that the headunit is a bit wider than most cd players but in the newer a4's no body make a jit for it yet and it all has to be custom. You might have heard a Bose stereo from a new a4 and yes those are much much better than the non-bose on the a4's. if you REALLY want that system i beleive you can put it in but in my opinion that would not be the best thing to do money wise. You will need the speakers and the bose amp from the newer cars those speakers i think will not work with out the bose amp that originally came with it. If you started add it up it will start to cost some $$$. Or you can go with after market speakers. At around $150-200 per set you can get a decent set of speakers that will most likely sound better and you will get a warranty, the bose if u find them used will be like for around 200-300 with no warranty and if u but them from teh dealer who knows how much, the headunit from the new a4s brand new from the dealer is $600 by it self. As for the headunit im sure the newer ones from the a4 will not fit but any after market will fit. A decent headunit will run you about $300-450 there are cheaper ones out there but i tend to stick with the higher end stuff mine was $500+ a few years back.
