Default Still getting oil burning off.

So I changed the valve cover gaskets on my 2.8 avant a good 600-700 miles ago. I checked a few days ago and no more oil burn off. And oil was right at the top of the dip stick. But then yesterday, I noticed the smell of oil in the cabin. Sure enough I see oil burning off directly behind the passenger bank of cylinders.

Default

No surprise there. Should have done them with the VCG's. :-(

Default so those cam adjust seals can cause smoke from behind the passenger cyl?

also, is this the article to change them.

Can I re-use my VCGs that I just put in there when I open it up again?

https://forums.audiworld.com/a4/msgs/1650707.phtml</a

Default That is the most common symptom. Your write up shows half the job.

If the Bank 1 seal is leaking, the bank 2 seal is leaking too, most likely. I'd do both.

I am not a huge fan of reusing gaskets, but I might consider it in this case.

Default Are your PCV breather hoses cracked?

My passenger side hose cracked and I started to smell oil in the cabin at idle, and you could see a small amount of smoke whisping out of it. Since I already had some upgraded ones on the way, I just taped it up with electrical tape and it worked just fine.

Default Oh right, you've got a 30v...

On my 12v they go from the back of the valve covers to the intake plenum/silencer deal. But If it's the brittle cheapo plastic tube then ya, that's the one.

First time it was smoking because it was broken, then when replacing it I didn't click it down all the way so it was still leaking a little.
