Strange noise coming from left rear tire area....

when the car is sitting at idle, sounds kind a like a quiet slow running air pump. Is this the fuel pump? Is it supposed to make that noise?

Fuel pump should sound like an electric motor. Air may be your door lock pump???

Maybe air pump isn't the best description, it sounds more like...

tapping your hand on your leg at an 1/8th note speed. (sorry I can't think of a beter description!)
