Studdering/stall problem..

Studdering/stall problem..
Starting w/ the cold/rainy weather in NE my 1.8t has been studdering sporatically at low throttle and rpms. Then all of a sudden after a week of this I'm driving and the engine stalls out and won't start back up. After a few min I was able to start the car again. Upon brining the car to my mechanic he read codes and nothing was found... he proceeded to drive the car home with him and noticed none of the problems i had seen.
After picking the car up again.. same story.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the prob? I was thinking bad MAF, but how can the mechanic check for this?
car is 1.8t KO4'd w/ GIAC software.

if you log the maf values at WOT, u can see what sort of readings u get
i don't know what a K04 will do, but i'm sure someone else will. if it's sporadic like this though, i doubt it's a maf reading. maybe a broken maf wire or some loose connection...
