sub tech
Now its time to go LOW, but how low? I need more bass from my subwoofer because its under-driven.
Since I have a friend who works at Cadence, I can get anything they make at dealer cost. So nobody can get it for less than I can. Thats a good thing or so I think. They do make some of the best car audio subs out there.
My subwoofer UD10-4

I like the phase plug, it looks cool. I paid $50 for it, You can buy it for $120 on the net. I like being me.
My amp (in a week) Q3000

Its Orange just like the sub, kinky. But it does do a solid 1x300w @ 4ohms and I am not even gonna pay $100 for it. You can pay $200 or so.
So my nice little sub and amp will have cost me $150 or less, but to anybody else its about $300, for a single 10" and amp. Cadence isnt cheap, but they do make nice subwoofer stuff if you can afford it.
First thing when I get my lazy *** up I am headed over to a local electronics store to buy a kenwood sirius tuner which I will activate, then when my tuner from crutchfield arrives, I will return that to 6th ave and say I changed my mind. Or if they have a restocking fee, I will tell them that it didnt work. Evil I know, but I really dont give a ****, I dont want to wait till friday to get mine. I really am excited about the satellite radio thing.
Soon enough I will order my Vifa drivers for my car, then I will have a friend of mine make the crossovers for the drivers.

I much prefer real home hifi to car audio, which really isnt high fidelity, its more low fidelity high volume. The environment is inherently crapy for audio. So wasting money on it isnt my plan.
I prefer the $50K listening room to the $5K car audio setup in a $14K car.
If you want heavy bass, yea I could do that, but why? **** I could get a pair of 12" wild beast subs $350ea or so and put a massive Cadence amp behind the two churning out like 1kw at 2ohms. But why? I dont want to be heard 2 blocks away.
I can understand if the only place you ever listen to music is in your car, but I am not going to spend more than $1000 on a car setup, the stuff has almost no residual value.
Real hifi however does keep value and is far more enjoyable. I've got many thousands of dollars of audio gear here at home, I dont feel the need to dump all of my money into one setup. Actually I have 3 listening environments here at home, the car audio is more of a boom box on wheels.
Maybe you need a lesson in fine tuning audio configurations. You dont really have to spend a ton of money. I prefer to measure audio by how nice it is to listen to and how easy it is to listen to, than by how much it costs. I know that a lot of people think money is everything (you might be among them) but being behind the scene in the audio world gives you a different perspective on what is worth what. Plus knowing how to fine tune things makes it a lot less expensive, I dont need a $300 subwoofer, a $50 driver in my box fine tuned with a proper crossover and amp, will still sound better. Watts dont mean **** and neither does the Dollar value of an audio system. Both are just big numbers for the insecure.

i'm not trying to start anything or be a jerk. you just sounded like a real *** in your first post. you merely could of said that you got some nice cadence equipment for a great price. instead you rubbed it in that you got something for a price that knowone else can. You sounded like eddie murphy, the ice cream man - i gots some ice cream and you ain't gots none. talking to us like were 5 yrs. old or something. and for those of us who did spend a lot on our systems, don't tell us that were trying to make up for insecurities. i didn't spend $3,000 dollars on big amps and big subs from best buy. i wanted a finely tuned system that sounds incredible for my listening pleasure. i got what i paid for and in my opinion it was money well spent. every one is entitled to their opinion. maybe next time, just don't come across like you did.
good luck with your system!
peace
