A Survey on Who has Auto Transmission or Manual Transmission

Manual Transmission
Almost went with auto, until I go hooked on this board and realized what a sports car the A4 could be. It is more a true "near luxury" class with the 2.8 and the auto.

Had to learn manual for my 1.8T. Reason? Tip's a lot slower...
Thnx to every1 on the board for convincing me to go for the stick. Only thing I'm not liking about manual is that I'm always concerned about killin the clutch. Maybe im too paranoid??<p>2000 1.8tqms Santorin/Ecru

I'm thinking about getting the Manual But First i need to know how to drive manual......
Do they have a school for learning Manual driving? Or do you have to ask a friend... and another thing, is the insurance high for manual transmission?

Don't just get Tip just because you never drove stick (more)
I wanted a stick, but I though I would have to get automatic, since I never drove a stick before. Luckily, my dealer didn't have what I wanted with Tip. I wanted the sports package, and he said they just don't make tips with sport. So I went home, got on the internet, and found some instructions at www.ask.com on how to drive a manual transmission car. The next day I asked a friend if I could practice on his car, then I went and bought the exact A4 I wanted, with stick, that night.
So the moral of the story is, if you want tip because of the convenience, great, but don't get it because you think you have to.
