Default Suspension mod done! Eibach Pro-Kit and Eibach Dampers installed. And I like It! - Bandwidth RQ.

The new suspension set-up consists of the Eibach Pro-Kit Springs Part No. # 1534.140 and the Eibach Pro Dampers Part No. # 60-15-003-02-22.
Note: for those of you owning Audis like mine but 99.5 and 2000 models the part numbers are slightly different. Check with Eibach before ordering.

Details:

Total cost of the suspension upgrade was $1,960 (or about $850 US) fitted and 4-wheel aligned from Tru Track in North Melbourne. $20 cheaper than initially quoted. Ralph at Tru Track did a magnificent job - taking a good deal of time to get the alignment, camber and toe spot on. Very very happy with the service at Tru Track and would reccomend them very highly. Its easy to see why they are regarded as one of the best aftermarket suspension specialists in Melbourne given the very high level of service provided. No rattle guns are used (there arent any even in the place) - everything is done meticulously by hand, checked and re-checked (I watched a fair bit of the install). Installation included new bump stops and bushes provided with the Eibach kit. (So, I basically have entirely new suspension - except for the control arms)

I havent had the chance yet to take some more measurement pics (I'll do so tommorow) - but Tru Track measured the drop as a good inch and half. I'll also send some more pics tommorow of the finished car as a whole.

Initial Impressions:

I now have a 1 3/4 - 2 finger gap (depends on the size of your fingers) all the way round (see pics) and the car has a beautiful hunkered down aggresive stance. (Much better than the rather agricultural Off road OEM look).

The car is very very nice to drive - In general driving like tonights traffic - its quite supple and comfortable to drive. One thing I noticed immediately is how the car no longer nose dives under hard braking but remains firm - tactile feel through the wheel/road has been greatly improved (by a substantial margin - making for far better driver feel).

Cornering is also greatly improved - the car sits nicely around the corners with zero body roll (I have not yet had the opportunity to throw it hard into some corners - but will do so tommorow - and will post my impressions of body roll at speed then). So take these initial impressions for what they are - Initial. It does feel like I could toss it into a corner at great speed - so, I'll try it out and let you know.

I am very glad I decided to install the Eibach Pro Dampers and not just the springs - the Dampers seem beautifully matched (as you would expect) to the springs. also, the Eibach Dampers provide more travel than the OEM shocks reducing the chance of riding on Bump Stops.

Comments from Ralp at Tru Track after test driving it were and I quote "This is the first time I have installed the Eibach Pro-Kit with the Pro Dampers in an Audi Quattro (he normally uses Koni's with the Eibach Pro Kit Springs) and I am very very impressed with the quality of the ride and the responsiveness of the matched combination. I think its a far better combination as the valving is obviously better matched to the spring." Time will tell - but so far I am WRAPPED.

Thats all for now - I'll post more impressions and pics tommorow.
