Switching ecu for dealer visit

I will throw a code right?
Will they know i tampered with the ecu?

jprice@CPS 12-27-2002 08:58 AM

They will know the ECU was without power.

I think the same code is thrown if you disconnect your car battery, which you are supposed to do when you leave it parked for a while. Can anyone here confirm it's the same code?

yes it will throw a code, either drive around for a while and that code will get cleared or clear

the code with a vag com. Then they won't know unless it physically looks like it was tampered with.

But all you have to do is tell the dealer you disconnected your

battery. BTW I have yet to see the code just go away by itself.

It does go away by itself eventually. Typically several weeks of driving.

I have had my ecu out more then 1000 times

and have yet to see that happen. I took my ecu out about 3 weeks ago(dec 6) and have not cleared any codes yet since my CEL is still on because I dont have the 2nd 02 sensor in the exhaust right now. I will check it again to see if the low power code is still there.

It has something to do with the # of warmup cycles the car goes thru.

I ran a little experiment myself to see if the low volt code would go away, and it took close to 2 months for my code to disappear.

I guess i need to find someone with a VAG
