Temp Gauge,ECT problems..
'98 30V temp gauge is straight up on ice cold start then climbs to full H and blinks overheat. Oil temp is normal and electric fan does not run while ideling in garage (it's in the 40's here). I replaced the fan switch early in this diagnosis because I believed the gauge was true and jumping the switch ran the fan... Hooked up the VAG Com and temp. readings agreed with the gauge. Does that point to the ECT sensor? I took an OHM reading on the ETC and got 1240 but the car wasn't stone cold. The cold reading is supposed to be 1500. This reading seemed reasonable for the luke warm engine (the hot reading is somewhere around 275+). I don't want to throw parts at it but am close to ordering an ETC.... Thanks
