Default thoughts???

ok...long story short..
new car...no problems...changed battery..drving to the mountains 1st long trip...2 hr drive in the hot aussie sun..after a certain point on the lights it goes off and wont start..all mechanic closed it was new years...im in this town..i keep trying...but wont start..so I sit a side and remember something that its not getting fuel...so i locate the throttle cable and move it slightly and car get going..
NOW the question is..i searched all over to locate the idle screw...but couldnt find it...my RPM is about 400-500 at neutral (its Automatic)..Audi A4 1996...does anyone have a clue...I also searched the internet with no luck!!!! boohoo..why does it do this in the heat?? i think the cable slightly stretches causing the car to stall

Not sure what you've got going there, but I am sure you aren't going to find the idle screw. There isn't one. That pretty much went out with carburetors. The world is controlled by idle motors and idle valves now. There is an idle speed basic setting you can do with a VAG-COM, but if you're real problem is a stretched throttle cable, check out this .pdf.

If it's a 96 V6 clean / replace the idle control valve and check the vacuum lines. Should idle at round 900 rpm with the AC on, slightly less with no AC.

Q2. I only can spot two sparks...is it me...or does Audi somehow like hiding every freaking part...
