Timing belt question...
 

I wasnt sure if the woman who owned the car before me had the timing belt changed so i took it to my mechanic and we looked at it together and the belt looks fine. there doesnt seem to be any cracks top or bottom. however i then called the dealer where she had it serviced and they said that the last tune up she had brought it in for was the 60,000 mile, and that they do the timing belt change at 75,000. This means that it had not been changed. Now to my question. Is cracking the only sign of a bad timing belt? I am rolling up on 80,000 miles and i am going to get it changed soon, but i am between jobs and a little low on cash and was wondering if the fact that there is no visable damage to the belt meant that it would be ok for maybe another thousand miles or so? Thanks in advance...

There is really no warning signs so be careful...
