Default Timing Belt Snapped. Any recourse?

The timing belt snapped with accompanying catastrophic engine failure on my 1993 90 at 93K miles. Belt was replaced once at recommended interval. Audi NA says "tough." Dealer says "sorry, for your troubles; want a new A4 at MSRP?"

Any ideas?

I though only the diesel was susceptible to catastrophic engine failure from valves running into the pistons. What kind of engine do you have?

All multivalve engines are I think... 16V 4cyl VW gas I know is failure on a timing belt snap.

Default Doesn't anyone here understand what MSRP means?!?

The difference between invoice and MSRP (suggested retail, i.e., "list" price) is at least $3,000 on a 2.8. I don't see how MSRP compares favorably with $300 over invoice.
