So if you get tip + quattro your car weights 354 pounds more than a manual front track. That's like hauling rosanne bar after a thanksgiving feast in your trunk.
At least with quattro you also get independent rear suspension.
Now check this out:
0–60 mph in seconds—
FrontTrak, manual/Tiptronic: 7.5/8.2;
quattro, manual/Tiptronic: 7.8/8.8
All stats for 2001 1.8T.

I don't think your 0-60 times are correct. The 1.8T Q-tip...
...can't be faster 0-60 than the 2.8 Q-tip unless I missed some upgrades somewhere along the line. I think the 1.8T Q-tip is more like 10 seconds to 60 and the 2.8 Q-tip is just over 9 seconds. I can tell you from experience that a '98 Q-tip is certainly not under 9 seconds. 2001 could be different, so maybe I'm the one off base, but I don't know where they would have found all that extra acceleration.<p>Charles

Specs were cut and paste from audi's web site
Here's the 2.8 specs.
0–60 mph in seconds—FrontTrak, Tiptronic: 8.4; quattro, manual/Tiptronic: 7.3/8.8
The fronttrack 1.8 tip is faster than the 2.8 tip, and the quattro 1.8T tip is the same speed as 2.8 tip. 0-60 only though. I'm sure the 2.8 is faster accelerating from a higher starting speed (like highway speed).

Its not as bad as you might think...
First- the gear ratios are different to make up for the difference in acceleration.
Second- all that weight is 'below the belt'. So its not like having Rosanne beside you- more like she's under the car. Which is where many people would rather see her...

I can't believe +20 hp and +11lb/ft would drop some times by over 1 second ?
...it'll be a tougher sell for the chipmakers if those numbers are accurate !<p>'00 1.8TQS Tip, no mods (yet...)
