Tip Chip

Does anyone have any experience with a tip chip, does it make a noticable difference, because my friend is looking into buying one for his '98 30valve 2.8

YES!

It makes a big difference and is worth the money (IMO). Many people posted about it here, do a search.

Yes, it is a noticable difference.

I just out a tip chip in on Sunday, into my 98.5 2.8Q 30v.
The lag is much less between shifting, therefore putting you into the next gear all that much quicker. I had been contemplating the tip chip for a while, and now am glad I decided to put it in.

On a 2.8, or a 1.8t I would get the Tip first, or both at the same time..

Naturally the engine chip will have less bang for the buck than teh 1.8t chip (and for that matter the tip chip) but it's still a nice upgrade.
