Plus most tips have the sport steering wheel which allows you to shift right from the wheel

Default One word.... HILLS

Living in Pittsburgh we have a ton of hills. On my Toyota I was going through a set of pads almost every 9 months. I'd have to ride the break to keep under the 30-45 mph limit.

With the A4 I simple use the tiptronic to shift down into 3rd or 2nd and no more riding the break!

Also it is jut fun to shift sometimes.

when driving near the limit, throttle input can be used to induce oversteer, without having the car suddenly change gears on you. This is a good thing, because if you are driving at the limit and your car changes gears in a turn, it's easy to loose it.

Ask your friend to take his to the redline in every gear, and watch his tach, odds are he'll miss it on at least one gear.
