Default tools or mods??...

I have some money to burn after working 50 hour weeks all summer and I'm defiantly getting suspension and wheels/tires on top of my chip exhaust and short throw. But after that, I don't know whether to keep moding (FMIC or K04 maybe) or buy some tools that I need. Since I live at home over the summer I use my Dad's jack, jackstands, air compressor and impact wrench. I'll be moving out soon so I know the rash decision would be getting the tools, but some part of me can't resist the mods.

Default How far would you be from home? I'd get the mods.

Unless you didn't have any friends or resources with tools to use in a pinch I'd get the mods. At least get a combination tool set you can keep in the trunk for emergency situations.

I usually buy tools as needed, which is usually when buying a new mod or breaking something.

Default tools first... the tools you'll buy are much cheaper than the mods you are considering

you can get a craftsman 172pc set for like $99 now (@ sears, i think). and jack/jackstands you can acquire for cheap as well. other than that, all you might need are some specialty tools to do specific jobs. otherwise, you can accrue a pretty comprehensive set of tools for not too much dough.

Default Initially, the same.

Get the basics...then go out and find some mods to get your fix.

On an ongoing basis...I tend to just wander by sears every now and again. Lots of stuff on the wishlist, but I still don't have enough basic tools, so I'm trying to stick to the practical everyday stuff for now.

Default I would say...you don't *need* the air compressor and impact wrench.

That's probably a luxury, best suited for after you settle into a proper garage. Get the jack/stands, and start shopping for mods.
