Default Are the tools the reset the service indicator and to read the OBDII info one and the same?

I'm looking for an independent mechanic to service my '97 A4 which is no longer under warranty. I found a local shop and talked to the owner. Sounded pretty reasonable, but then I asked if he had the tool to reset the service indicator. He said "No". If that means he is also incapable of reading the OBD-II, then I think I should look elsewhere. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Default You need VAG 1551 tool, equivalent, or the software setup
