Just got an 01 a4 2.8l for my first car and theres an issue using the right turn signal as it doesn't turn off automatically after turning. Any ideas?

Which model is it b5 or b6

It's a b5. The problem seems to be inconsistent as the turn signal works as intended some days whereas other days I need to cancel manually.

My guess from messing with the cruise controls the grease that was used to lubricate had dried out, possibly your problem. Taking it apart is not too bad, but it does require removing the steering wheel and airbag, not a big deal once you unplug the battery.
