update: broken flex pipe

hey i posted a few days ago about a deafening exaust, and it turns out it was just the flex pipe that broke. the shop i took it to quoted me 330, does that sounds reasonable? and while they were in there reminded me of the leaking cam chain tensioner ($337), right front axle ($231) and some other stuff which i want to try and do myself, fuel filter/breaks (this is my first car, never done work like this before, but i want to learn). so let me know what you think of these prices. thanks a lot.

flex pipe? $10-$30 part, $50 top to get it welded on or score a used one, there are plenty out there

Flex pipe, as in exhaust? That's a $30 part and at most 2 hours work.

hmm

there was a break right behind the webbed portion of the pipe, possibly the downpipe from the cat? not really sure.

any muffler shop should be able to fix it for a lot less than that quote...

I had a custom magnaflow exhaust made and installed on my silver A4 for around $400 or less, don't quite remember.

I got a used one from Dads for about $100 and got it put on by an indy shop for $77

Dad's is in Cali. If you are on the east coast you might be able to get one from Shokan.

if youre around mass it will cost you 80 bucks or so to have a shop weld it

i had quotes for parts and labor ranging from 100 to 180 and them telling me the part costs 40-80 dollars. find a place that will do it and tell them yo uwill bring the part, get out of the whole thing for 100 or less
