UPDATE: on my alleged speeding violation/court date. Thanks, Delta-9 for the advice!
Well, I was off on a bachelor party this past weekend from friday afternoon until last night in Williamsburg, VA. We left in the bride's father's company jet (I now will never want to fly commercial again), which took us less than an hour to get from philly to some little airport near our hotel, Williamsburg Inn. Each day was 18 or 36 holes of golf, drinks at the 19th hole, hit the showers and steam rooms, awesome dinner out with some ye olde "entertainment" in evenings followed by poker into the wee hours of the morning, then repeat the process the next day. Then, we took the jet back yesterday afternoon to philly and then we drove home respectively.
So... after the best golf outing that I ever been on, I find 2 letters from the Court in my mail. To take a step back, I decided to write a letter to the Court explaining why I was driving up to Albany, that I don't want to waste the Court's time and mine since I can't make a 6 AM trial and requested the speeding violation (86 in a 65) to be dropped to a non-moving violation and I'll pay the same fine as speeding. I see that the 2 letters have 2 different postmark dates, so I open the older one first. It states that my court time was an error and should have read 6:00 PM not AM. Great... that doesn't help me since I'd still have to drive up there and go to court. I open the second letter and it states that they accept my guilty plea for an Inop. Speedometer (disclaimer: aftermarket wheels indicating improper speed/MPH) with a fine of $15 and a court surcharge of $25.
Ha! -- I spent more money for beer and water on the golf course this weekend :-)

Cool. Glad to hear it worked out....
I was very skeptical of my own issue b/c ppl here on AW were not too positive about NY police.
My fine was below what everyone here estimated... and the "quotes" ranged to as high as $500.00.

I got a ticket for rolling a stop sign in the city. Should I do the "trial by written declaration"..
