URGENT. Need help with sunroof link replacement. In the process now.

I am attempting to replace my sunroof links with the instructions found on this site.

procedure to service the skis

step 1. set sunroof in vent position.
step 2. examine what remains of your plastic tracks...
step 3. if tracks are incomplete or are missing completely.... continue to step 4.
step 4. find a T25 bit and a ratchet.
step 5. remove the 6 (3/side) T25 screws that hold the glass assy to the track system.
step 6. lift sunroof glass up and out of tracks
step 7 put in in the trunk of your car so you dont step on it/ knock it over $$$$$ otherwise.
step 8. use dental tools or picks to remove little pieces of black plastic carnage from the tracks... to prevent eventual jamming.
step 9. use pics to release C clips from retaining pins on skis.
step 10. install new skis and re-install c clips.
step 11. repeat steps 8-10 on other side of car.
step 12. once both new skis are installed reinstall glass (safety glass warnings/info to rear of car)

I have all the pins and c-clips out, but the problem is the metal coiled spring piece is in the track to where it cannot be removed?

How do I do this?

Can it be done without removing headliner?

That sounds like something I wrote over two years ago.

As I remember I had to remove a pair of pins with a bike chain tool I think they may have been the ones that hold in those springs.

I just went out to look at my car... but I've taken out the sunroof potentiometer (dont know where its at) so I cant open it up to see the skis.

I never dropped my headliner to replace the slides/skis of my sedan.

We had to drop my headliner when I accidentally retracted the sunroof without the glass in place.... OOOOOOPS.

You know those long pieces of round metal on the end of the skis?

that have the round metal coil on it? Where it attaches to the track it has no room to slide out.

I dont remember the exact detail of how I did it

It seems that what I posted is incomplete... I absoloutly removed the skis without removing anything other than the sunroof glass.

I think I took a bicycle chain tool and used a dremel to hone down the tip so that it would fit into the holes on the skis.

tool looked exactly like this... I gave it away years ago.

Check your email in a second....

take the Cyclo tool I sent you a pic of and use a dremel to make the pin pusher smaller in diameter

The pin pusher is made from decent metal so it didn't bend when I used it even in reduced form.

See the tiny part of the threaded shaft in the windows where the chain goes... well the ski goes into that window nicely and you just twirl the little pin pusher handle around to send the pin pusher through the retaining pin on the spring which holds the ski and spring together.

Oh, so you actually removed the non-clamped pin in the link? So you never took the coiled part out!

I understand now.
