Default V1 remote unit question.....

Today i had my V1 hardwired and the remote unit installed in the cupholder (i'll have pics soon, came out REALLY nice), but i noticed the numbers/letters in the remote unit seem slighty faint. When i first turn the ignition it lights up very bright and clear but when the car is running it becomes more faint. Are they all like that? is there a lack of power somewhere? Unfortunately i did not install it myself so i don't know exactly what it's wired to. Does anyone have any ideas why it might be faint?

Default I figured it out.....

The *******s that installed my radar detector hardwired it to the light in my radio. For example, when the interior light is on or the ignition is just turned the radio lights up very bright and then slowely fades (at least on my 2001). The remote unit also does the same, as the interior light and backlight for the radio fades so does the light in the remote...i got to go back down there and speak to the *******s that hardwired it.

Funny too, cause i told them specifically that i wanted it wired to fuse #27 (as the install on the tech section described).

Default Before you call them *******s and completely make an a$$ of yourself, read this.

The remote display is equipped with a light sensor. If it senses light, it steps up the brightness on the display. If it doesn't sense much light, then it gets dimmer. My guess is that you have it mounted in a way that hides the remote unit from light, causing it to be dim during the day. At night, when the interior lights are on, it causes the display to be very bright, however, as soon as the interior lights dim, the display dims as well. Play around and see if this is what's happening. I don't think it has anything to do with your radio or fuse #27.

BTW, there is a light sensor in your instrument panel that adjusts the brightness of your center console controls (including the radio). Works the same way as the V1, but I think there is a tie to the parking light circuit as well. I would have to run outside to figure out exactly what the story is, but I'm too lazy. It works, and I'm happy.

Default hmm...i think you may be right...they might work independant of each other...

is there a way to disable the light sensor within the remote unit????? It doesn't look right being so much dimmer than the rest of the interior.
