Wastegate problem..

Default Wastegate problem..
just got back from the dealership..

They fixed a bunch of things to fix my loss of power problem and nothing worked.


they said the wastegate is not opening properly and I need to replace the whole turbo.
New turbo installed 1,490.. fair?

now my question: Should I..
A. pay 1500 bucks
B. Look for used oem or new oem online
C. Look for aftermarket and (as long as it is the same size) they said they would install it for 490. (New turbo costed 1k from dealership).

Default Its not having issues opening, its having issues not staying shut
It is a fairly common issue and does warrant replacing the turbo. You can get a used k03 very cheap.

get a k04 or a used turbo and install it yourself, not hard to do

my car is out of warrenty.. should i go on ebay or what?

Default it's really not that hard...
replacing my turbo was the first thing I ever did on any car. If you go used look for one with low miles and don't pay over $300.

Default look into getting a good dremel and /or power tool for cutting the metal turbo bracket
because the Bolt will most likely be frozen

Default i was thinking of buying a ko4 kit for 1,6 and then intalling it alone and having a ko4..
aftermarket i ment upgrade
