Is this weird....?
I filled up at a Gulf Station a few weeks ago, got 93, and the next day my CEL comes on. It stayed on through that tank, didn't have time to get it VAGed and since it wasn't flashing I didn't worry about it. So then one day the light is off, then the next it's on. I fill up at an Exxon 230 miles or so later, light stayed intermittent for the first 100 miles or so, then goes off, filled up at a shell and I'm 200 miles into that tank and the light hasn't been back on. Could the CEL be because of that initial fill up at the Gulf Station? Bad batch of gas?

Had same problem - - - read...
I went to a local citgo and filled with 93. Next day - CEL. Got a code for precat O2 (passengerside). it was local autozone that checked the code and they wouldn't clear it. Anyways when that tank was empty, I filled at another gas station and a day later, the CEL went off. I kept filling up for a while at the other gas station in town and the light never came back on - until I got curious and filled up one day with the citgo that tripped the light. BAM! next day CEL came one - got the same code. This time I told them to reset it and they did. A couple months went by and I was in town at 1am and bone dry of gas. Guess who was the only station open? The stupid citgo. I only put 5 bucks worth of gas in and low and behold - the next day there was the CEL for the same reason.
1st moral of the story - check the code asap. just cuz it aint blinkin doesn't mean nuttin.
2nd moral of the story - I changed the O2 sensor and not only does it NOT come back on when I go there but I increased my mpg by 3.5.
