Well, it's been a fun ride guys, but the A4 is finally going...

Decided it was time to part with my car. The maintenance was just getting too much for me to afford unfortunately. I love this car to death, but I drive 45 minutes to school back and forth 5 times a week, and with 92,000 miles, she's not exactly getting any younger. Current problems included Check engine light (Emissions related), Air bag light (Drive seat air bag), Brake pads worn, axle boots torn, and power locks don't work. I also just had to replace the steering rack. I also wasn't getting anywhere near the 17-18 psi I should have been getting out of my GIAC software. I was back around 9-10. All in all, the car has never left me stranded anywhere and I can't complain about that, but being a college student, I simply can't afford the maintenance costs. I'm not parting out really anything on the car besides the Phatnoise and the TSW Volcano's with the Nittos. The tires are about at the end of their life and the wheels do have some scuffs on them (Had for about 3 years). I suppose I'll ask maybe 350? Everything else I don't have stock parts to replace them with.

I decided on trading in my car and the dealer offered me 5900. Yes, that is ridiculously low and I realize I could get more if I parted it out, however in order to fix the car and get it in sellable condition, it would cost me around 2000. Say I sold it for 9...it would be only a bout an 1100 profit. I figured it was better to save the time and effort and just do it this way.

Anyways, I decided on an 07 Nissan Altima. It was priced at 17,995 and I talked the dealer down to 17,000. I basically just said I could do 66 months at 235 a month and he finally agreed after some negotiating. I included the link to it on Autotrader.

It has the same interior as the 08's, still has the push button ignition, aux input for my ipod, and other cool little stuff. I didn't think I'd ever drive an automatic, but that CVT is pretty cool, and the manual mode will keep me happy for now. Hopefully I'll be back in an Audi someday when the finances get more in order, but just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for all the information I've got over the years. Thanks to everyone I've met at the few meets I've been to over the years up here in CT. Do your best to keep this place classy, it's one of the few remaining forums on the internet that isn't a complete waste of time.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=235341801&amp;dealer_id=1328659&amp ;car_year=2007&amp;model=ALTIMA&amp;num_records=25 &amp;systime=&amp;make2=&amp;start_year=2007&amp;k eywordsfyc=&amp;keywordsrep=&amp;engine=&amp;certi fie

you trade-in the mods? ...for only $5900. should've at least taken the ECU and DTS. good luck

with the new car.

eh....I put 130 miles a day on my old A4 for 3.5 years straight....

You would have been better off fixing the A4 than taking on a new payment.

At least get something better than an Altima....

It's an inferior car....sorry, I said it.

goodluck with the new car =) my friend has one, its not bad, i think the seats are too high though

You could finance the money to repair the A4 and it would be much less...

A smaller payment and less time to pay it off. Our A4s are pretty simple to work on...I'll admit the parts aren't all that cheap, but if you buy from Carson it's not bad at all. I'm with you on the mileage, but A4s consistenly hit 200k with maintenance and TLC. Sorry to see you go...but I think you're giving up too easy.

Thanks, I really like it all around too. For the commute I make it will be a good ride.

Came across this post and its got me thinking - my 2000 A41.8t has 130K miles, and I've been thinking of selling it because of anticipating future repairs, etc. etc. If one of our cars is really well cared for (mine has been pampered), and you like it enough to want to keep it a really long time (like 200K miles min.), how much $$$$ are you likely looking at? Might be cheaper to keep 'er
