what causes squeaky brakes?

being only 18 this is my first car (1998 1.8T) and my brakes have gotten squeaky what is the most likely the cause of this do i need new pads or somthing?

warped rotors, bad brakes, brake dust, if you have new rotors until they soften

If the pads were put on w/o antisqueal stuff. They may squeal too.

no such thing as warped rotors.
