What happens if you dont wait for your turbo to cool down?

mjbrox 02-25-2002 12:15 PM

Your oil will break down sooner...the turbo gets hot as (more)

****!!!!!!
mine will glow red at night.

If you shut off the car and the turbo is really hot the the oil (same oil that goes through engine goes through turbo) that is in the turbo will stay there and bake.

... which hurts the bearings in the turbo, as well as making the oil really...

dark and goopy

The oil will cook in the bearing. Eventually it will seize.

In other words.....You are a very bad person if you shut your car off too soon

Kris Hansen 02-25-2002 12:22 PM

Exactly.

In other words.... karma to be expected.

How about if you never shut your car off?

I mean, this whole silly turbo cool-down problem is based solely on the assumption that you're turning off the car, right?

So if you never turn off the car, you should never have a problem, right?

Hmm?? Hmm??

;-)
