what is the highest oct i can run
i have a 98.5 a4 1.8t with a stage 2 TAP performance package i was wondering if i could run 100oct in my car or if it will harm it? or maby mix some of the fule with regular.

Unless the Tap software can utilize the higher octane fuel (doubtful) running anything over 93octane
is a waste of money.

Re: Unless the Tap software can utilize the higher octane fuel (doubtful) running
well where i live the diff between race fuel and 93 is very minimal, CA sucks if u drive a car that uses gas

If the cost between 93 and 100 is minimal get a 100 program? You won't hurt anything running 100
but you may lose a little power compared to 93. It is possible the burn rate will be too slow for the timing requested by the Tap software.

i dont know if i can even get it reburned i bought the car about amonth ago and it came with all this stuff on it so i wouldnt know how to get it reflashed.

you will see a difference!!
maybe not as much the program was made for 100oct but you will definetly see a difference! i was running mid 17's all nite long (yes i kno its uber slow but the car is an auto and had the neuspeed .8bar + quattro + 89 octane (yes i know)+ 3000+ft elevation) i added 2 gallons of 100 on an empty tank(light was on) and i ran a 16.7! thats almost a second off! point being that yes running higher octane does make a difference.

Dont run 100 and don't get reflashed.
If you get reflashed to a 100 program ONLY, you can only use 100 gas. If you add a 100 program, then you can use 100 gas and will see an improvement. |
eleventy billion.

Running 89 at 3000 feet is running fuel octane below the recommended grade
for a stock ECU.. let alone chipped. The difference is you got back the timing pulled by your running fuel below the 'required' octane. Now dump in a tank of 100 and see if you get any performance increase.
