what is a normal oil temperature for you guys in normal driving conditions?

My oil gets to 200 real fast. I really feel like it used to get to 175 and stay there unless I was really pushin it. Now if I push it goes to 225 pretty easily. Anything I should be worried about?

nbevins 08-15-2007 08:34 PM

200 degrees, unless I am in traffic or pushing it in hot weather then 225-250.

That's pretty normal.

Normal drive to work (20 mins) I'm around 215-220. Pushing the car or in very hot weather at higher RPM's... 225-230.

Mine used to stay around 180F. 200-210F if I pushed it hard.

About the same here.

Between 200 and 225

Sounds normal. You want to get it hot to get rid of any water that may work it's way in.

Bah, installed an aux-oil cooler and even in summer heat, highway driving-->

temps barely go over 200 deg. Cooler weather (fall, winter) temps never go over 170-180.

BigEd 08-16-2007 06:30 AM

220-ish in hot summer weather under normal driving conditions. Would like to see 200.

shaag81 08-16-2007 07:42 AM

200-225 here but I drive into the mountains daily.

My oil temp is always dead on at 200, it'll go to 205 on 95 F+ days with A/C.

The secret: a 24-row oil cooler where the SMIC was.
