What should the compression readings be at for the 2.8 30v?
searching for the words "compression" and "2.8" really sucks. Or I just suck at searching. Or maybe I am just too lethargic to read through a seemingly endless amount of posted results.
Please? Also, should I disable the fuel pump while doing a compression test? Seems like a good idea to me, along with the ign. coils. |
You may be the first person ever to do a compression test on a 30v.
The 30v engine is bulletproof. What's wrong with yours?
Compression gauges and readings can vary. As along as compression is at least 125 and all cylinders are fairly even you should be fine. |
I had 180 on cyl 1-3.. 120 on 4 and 6 and 165 on 5... bad rings on 5
and a piece of metal got sucked in the s/c and cut the valve seats on 4 n 6... in the middle of the rebuild right now :)
Also yes I pulled the fuel pump fuse, ?#28? dont hold my feet to the fire on that but if ya need I can check later... its still out so... and yes I pulled the connector to the coil pack and all the wires... |
Nothing's wrong. Just want to make sure that I don't aggravate any unknown problems
with the addition of a supercharger in about a week. It's a common test to do on the 30v.

Thank you. So, 180 is the norm then.

I do compression tests and leak downs before I buy any vehicle, its cheap insurance against stupid
purchases. And only takes a few minutes.
