Hello, I have a 98 1.8T 5SPD and last weekend, I started hearing a whining sound while reving, the steering wheel got heavy and felt like there was no power steering, also while idling there is a loud hssing sound, as if there was a opened vaccum hose, but when I steer left or right it the sound goes away. Idle is fine, starts up fine, no check engine light and no faulty code shown on the computer, waiting to hear back from dealer, but they're taking forever. Any hints would be appreciated.

Have you checked your power steering pump?

I was thinking that too, since I was on the track when that happened, Auto-X solo type of track. The hydraulic fluid was boiling and smelled really bad. Hopefully the dealership will actually figure out whats wrong with it, it has been there since friday night.

One of the delievery hoses to the power steering pump was leaking fluid which caused the pump to run dry and also ruined my rack. I pick up the car tomorow, it been in the shop for 9 days now.
