Default Our involvment in other countries may have led to this, but...

if the world was so angry at us for our foreign policy then why is the majority of the entire world behind us at this point?

Default if they dislike the US so much why dont they declare war on us, with some honor instead of this

sneaky low way of doing it....Im sure not every goverment is free of some wrong doings, but if you have eyes wide open anything could look wrong or right...in the eyes of whom every is behind this he sees it as right...go figure right? If Bin Loser had issues with US policy state it and then come to our front door, knock on it and ask us to step out side and fight...dont come sneaking it the window steal our car and ram it into our living room...A man that fights without honor is a man that dies without honor...this was wrong no matter what...there is no justifying it....

Default That's a whole lot of window dressing for a simple and obvious "theory".

What is that, like 5,000 words? And it boils down to: "Who did this? Maybe one of the countries we've bombed in the past 10 years!" Wow, that's insightful.

I don't mean to come across as unduly critical, but as the opinion mill churns out more and more stuff over the next several days and weeks and even months, we all need to learn to separate wheat from chaff if we're gonna get anywhere towards understanding this thing fully. I agree that countries previously bombed by the US are prime candidates, and that Afghanistan heads the list. But I didn't much enjoy plowing through an essay that long to read that theory, which has existed as one of the principal reasons for terrorist threats since way before 9/11/01.

Sorry for the rant.

I don't think this essay was about who did this.

Default yeah right. Terrorists are typically religious zealots, not stupid.

The financial and natural resources are infinitessimal compared to the U.S. They are fighting more of a guerilla warfare.

I make a vague comparison to the our Revolutionary War fighters against the British Redcoats. Looking back on it, I'd much rather hide in the trees and fight a war than stand in a line "like a gentleman" just to be a sitting duck.

Default I know that much...but the original article claims that we pissed them off to the point that they do

this...and that we should not get involved in othere things from now on. While I must admit that some times the US is too medling, I cant agree with the tone of justification it had...as if these people are allowed to terrorize the US for their involvement in affairs not their own....The revolutionary war was fought by soldiers, the people that died were normal every day guys and girls like you and me...my statement of honor was to argue the very point that no matter what we may have done an attack of any kind on a civilian target is wrong. esp. one of that nature...

Default You can't seriously be asking that question.

The "whole world" wasn't, and isn't, necessarily angry or in strong disagreement with US foreign policy. All it takes is one. In this case there happen to be quite a few, mostly grouped in the Middle East. And let's be clear, we're talking about a lot more than "policy" when it comes to that group. They see themselves very much as victims of past US "aggression" in their part of the world. And it isn't just the past 10 years either. Who preceded Ayatollah Khomeini as the ruler of Iran, and how did he get into power? Why is Saudi Arabia friendly to us, and what do they get in return for that? Why do we support Israel when it seems like most other countries in that region strongly object to us doing so? When you learn some of these basic facts, you begin to understand why they hate us so much over there. I ain't no middle east scholar. I just know it's a big picture, there are no easy answers, and the reasons for what happened this week are both very recent and very old.
