Why is the passenger side mirror smaller than the driver side mirror?

Default Since objects in that mirror are larger than they appear...
...they make the mirror smaller to make the objects look bigger. 8^) Sorry, couldn't help myself.

Some say that it's that way so it lines up with the door (for close parking, like in Europe). Of course, if that's true, then why are both mirrors the same size now? The world may never know.

Default How come it's like that only on the A4?
Why not make the driver's mirror the same size?

Default Could be. I saw plenty...
...of mirror folding in France last month. That's where power folding mirrors would come in handy.

Default Compromise between safety and function...it's safer to have big mirrors...
so they make them bigger on the side that counts the most.
